Wow. Its 2010....Crazy.
Things have been moving along below the current for the new album. Going slow. But thats the way I seem to work these days.
I'm super excited to have Henry Nagle, the local pedal steel wizard coming in to lay some tracks over the weekend. Which leaves one more musician (sax) and I'm ready to throw down some vox.
Also the Jali Bakary Konteh album is FINISHED and I'm gearing up to do some sort of CD Release, though this is sort of tough when He is in Africa....
So. I'll keep you posted. The official INTERNATIONAL Release will be happening in February when it is released for international distribution!!!! through Akwaaba Music. We are very excited about this...
Check out the website of this cool Label at www.akwaabamusic.com
Also, come help us celebration MLK Day Eve at the Russian River Brewing Company next Sunday!
I've unfortunately hit some road bumps with bringing my friend/teacher Jali Bakary Konteh over here this summer...in short, his visa request was denied, and bringing him here on a work permit is a long, expensive, arduous process which couldn't be figured out and executed by the summer....so back to the drawing board. Now its all about finishing the album to start raising funds for the next step.

PA BOBO JOBARTEH!!! FAREWELL SHOW
...with Steve Pile band backing him up.
This Friday, October 24th, 10pm FREE
at the Ravenous (420 Center st. Healdsburg)
Please come on down...We did a gig last weekend as a band and it sounded so good (Have a listen!) and was so fun we had to do it again.

And now onto the Recording!
Thanks again to everyone who came out for the Live Recording at the Hopmonk in July.
It was a Super Fun Show and we were so happy with the turn out....
The recording as I mentioned before was fraught with a strange distortion not present while we were recording. Pretty much trashed most of the vocals on all tracks....so the idea of making it a "live CD" doesn't seem too enticing...but, about 5 tracks were only lightly distorted(relatively), and so i offer these in thanks...feel free to download and distribute....

Gambia Bound!!
If you would like to put some money towards the solar panels I am donating to the Konteh family in the Gambia, please click below
Alright...Things are rolling. Countdown is ON. Just 3 weeks from today, I'll be in the air on my way to Madrid for a few days then down on in to the Gambia for 6 weeks of music and culture. Its hard to believe its actually happening, but it is. Still a few more shots to get. Supplies...have to figure out Logic a bit better for recording an album for Jali Bakary and whatever else may come up. I expecting to fill my hard drive at least...guess I should buy 2! ...the solar panel situation has morphed a bit, and I found a company in Arizona that sends them to the Gambia all the time. So I hope to solidify that in the next few days.
Also the blog is up...I was having trouble finding it in search engines, but maybe thats just because its brand new. Hope to have the kinks worked out soon. I plan to fill it with photos, news, ramblings, videos as time allows.

I'll be doing a big benefit on Saturday, Feb. 2nd from 9-midnite at the Palette Art Cafe(105b Healdsburg Ave in Healdsburg) featuring my friend from Austin, Tx., Erin Condo. I'm thrilled to be playing with Erin again. She's awesome and I hope she chooses to stay out this way for a while...you can hear her at her myspace page, or visit www.erincondo.com
And if you'd like to contribute towards the panels, but can't make the show, you can do it safely and securely through paypal!!

Man. its the new year...its a fortnight into the New Year at that. Crazy. Had a nice "holiday season" full of visitors and great gigs. It was a blast and a much needed collaboration to share the stage with Sara Shansky at the Toad in the Hole as the year drew to a close. And now, with only a few weeks left until my departure to The Gambia, the clock is ticking and I'm trying to gather my wits. A little ragged today, but a full update of the plans will be forthcoming in a newsletter and on this page. There will be a fundRzr on Feb. 2nd at the Palette in Healdsburg for the solar panels I plan to bring with.

Holy shit....Time Flies, don't it. Sorry for the tiny updating lag. I god deathly ill last week and it sort of threw the proverbial wrench in my proverbial gears. Having a 2 week cold is no good for singers, let me tell you that!
well. the good news is that we are going to be busting out some new tunes...(some New New, and some New Used...or previously played by other bands) Its about time we play some Clash songs, you know. So come on out this Saturday, tomorrow. gonna be good.

Happy Halloween ya'll. It should be a fun one, with numerous parties I will be trying to make it too. French waiter for the 3rd year running. This will be the last. There's a dance party with costume contest at the Ravenous tonite and a Gala Crazifest at Palomar (home of the old skating rink and old Bandstand for the likes of Count Basie...right here in Healdsburg). Nothing else to report really except I'm about to buy my ticket for A
